Knockout City is a lighthearted fusion of dodgeball and arena combat from EA, which sees teams of players facing off in large urban environments and hurling dodgeballs at each other to earn points.
In Knockout City teams of players do battle in 3v3 matches across a large city environment using different types of ball as their weapon. The aim is to KO your rival by hitting them with a ball, but much like in dodgeball, your rivals can dodge and catch your balls and turn them against you. There are various different balls with unique properties (such as the Moon Ball, the Bomb Ball and the Cage Ball, and if there’s not a ball handy then you can even roll into a ball yourself and get a teammate to throw you at the opposition.
It’s unlikely to trouble Rocket League for the top spot of futuristic ballsport gaming, but it looks like it could be a lot of fun. The playing field is refreshingly even (there are no character specific special powers or abilities) you simply throw, catch, tackle and dodge your way to glory, so it should be accessible to newcomers. The Beta is due to start on Feb 20th as 7am PT, so sign up for the Beta to join in the Dodge-brawling fun!
