Kriegsfront Tactics is a turn-based tactics RPG where you command a squad of mech pilots in an alternate version of 1970’s Southeast Asia.
In the Kriegsfront Tactics prologue you will be able to play through roughly an hour’s worth of the opening story of the upcoming game as you take your mechs on a mission through the treacherous jungles of Southeast Asia. The game has chunky low poly visuals, full voice acting and cinematic combat with lots of destruction. The core movement/attack system is similar to X-Com, but the scale of the mechs, the tactical options and the environmental destruction make for a very different experience.
It’s an impressive game with a cool retro visual style, plenty of tactical depth and characters that you can get invested in. Particularly impressive is how the environmental destruction plays a part tactically – with you able to do things like burn down trees to expose mechs hiding in them. Highly recommended.
