Legends of Runeterra is new tactical turn-based CCG from Riot Games (creators of League of Legends), which promises plenty of depth and tactical options as you compete in 1v1 battles where players alternate between attacking and defending roles each round.
The tactical CCG gameplay in Legends of Runeterra is similar to traditional CCG games, using mana to play cards and with each card having their own separate health and attack stats. Each round players draw and place a variety of different types of spell, unit or champion cards, but each round players alternate between attacking and defensive roles (so one player attacks while the other defends).
You can explore and do battle in differently themed regions of the game world, earning you XP and new cards in the process. Cards can all be unlocked through gameplay, but you’ll be able to use premium currency to unlock them too, and once a week the card vault opens, giving you temporary access to more cards and allowing you to experiment with your play style.
To sign up for the Legends of Runeterra Beta on PC you need to pre-register here, which will then allow you to download the game client but you won’t be able to play until you are granted access to the game (which you’ll be notified about via email). You can also sign up on Android by pre-registering on the Google Play Store. Both methods will give players access to preview builds and special upcoming events.
