Leximan is a narrative-driven puzzle adventure where a wizard uses language-based spells to solve puzzles and battle enemies in a world where magic is a little embarrasing.
In Leximan you are a new student at Academy Elementinia – a school for aspiring wizards. You are uniquely skilled and have discovered the power of Leximancy – the ability to cast spells using language. This will come in handy when Academia Elementinia is attacked by someone with a nefarious agenda and you set out to stop them.
The spells you cast come in two main forms – ones used during battle and ones you can use while exploring the world. During battles you can snatch word fragments as they float around the screen and arrange them to form words that defeat your enemy (or just arrange silly words to see their response). While exploring the world you can type out different spells that you learn to cast them, allowing you to solve puzzles, open new areas, etc.
It’s an entertaining adventure with a great pixel art visual style and a fun sense of humor. The word-based spellcasting in a great premise and it allows for some inventive gameplay and puzzle design. A word-based puzzler that will put a spell on you.
