LUNARK is a Flashback inspired cinematic 2D action platforming adventure set in a world where humanity is ruled and protected by a totalitarian robotic regime that was created to preserve humanity.
Drawing inspiration from 80’s and 90’s classics like Flashback, Another World and Prince of Persia, LUNARK is a Sci-Fi action platforming adventure set on a distant alien planet that’s been chosen to be the new home of humanity. After the Earth became inhospitable the human race created an AI called Noah whose sole function was to preserve humanity.
Noah converted the Moon into an ark (called Lunark) and transported the human race to the nearest inhabitable planet. However, centuries later, Noah is still “taking care” of the human race and is ruling over them in a totalitarian regime. A rebellion is starting to stir and there’s also the small matter that maybe you’re not the first sentient life to call this planet home…
The LUNARK demo build takes around 20 minutes to play through and features a nice mixture of narrative, platforming, puzzle solving and combat. The game looks and plays a lot like Flashback (which is no bad thing), and even the characters’ clothing is a nod to Delphine Software’s 1992 classic. The lore is very intriguing and the pixel art animation is particularly impressive, with fluid character animation, lots of environmental detail and gorgeous cutscenes. Highly recommended.
