Mass Effect: Andromeda is the latest instalment of BioWare’s epic sci-fi action role playing third person shooter franchise that takes place long after the events of the previous games as you captain the starship Tempest across a vast open galaxy.
While you’re obviously not playing Commander Shepard this time, you still have a choice of customisable male or female characters, each of which is touted to be the children of Ryder – an N7 that’s been tasked with discovering new planets for humanity to colonise. The Pre-Alpha footage of Mass Effect: Andromeda released during the PS4 Pro unveiling doesn’t really disclose much about the game (other than you have a cool looking spacesuit have a nifty little jetpack that you can use to jump short distances), but it’ll most certainly feature the blend of team management, meaningful choices, third person combat and immersive space exploration that made the series so popular. A multiplayer component has already been confirmed and it also looks like the Mako is making a comeback too!
While the Mass Effect: Andromeda website doesn’t specifically mention the Beta, it seems to be following the same sign up process as the Battlefield One and Titanfall 2 Beta sign ups, which asked you to sign up to ‘become a Battlefield Insider’ or ‘Dispatches from the Frontier’ respectively. According to the site “Registered recruits will be among the first contacted to receive critical mission information, special training opportunities, and will also be eligible for reward upon program completion”. The ‘Special training opportunities’ will most certainly be Alpha/Beta testing and it’s always nice to receive exclusive in-game rewards. Sign up now to explore the universe, orientation begins on November 7th.
