Mavericks Proving Grounds is an upcoming massively multiplayer tactical shooter and Battle Royale survival shooter that looks set to up the ante by allowing four times as many players as PUBG – yes that’s 400 players duking it out to be the last one standing!
Mavericks Proving Grounds looks set to offer a multiplayer survival shooter experience with two main game modes – a 1000 player open world MMO with missions and objectives, and a 400 player Battle Royale survival shooter. Not only does Mavericks Proving Grounds promise bigger battles than PUBG and Fortnite, but the devs also claim it will offer a more stable experience due to them putting the entire game world in the cloud and running it in their SpatialOS platform.
The cloud based wizardry of Mavericks Proving Grounds’ SpatialOS platform also looks set to give players a more immersive combat experience. The devs promise visuals on par with What Remains of Edith Finch and a reactive environment, with player footprints, dynamic fire, foliage displacement, environmental destruction and wildlife that reacts to you. The game world promises to be pretty massive too – in fact it’s touted to be bigger than that of Skyrim!
Whether Mavericks Proving Grounds can actually fulfil all of these promises remains to be seen, but it certainly doesn’t lack ambition. The cloud-based SpatialOS platform that it’s built on certainly sounds good. If they manage to pull it off this could be the future of gaming.
