The open Beta is now live for Monstrum 2, an asymmetric multiplayer survival horror game that pits one monster against four human prisoners as they attempt to escape a procedurally generated offshore facility.
Previously featured on Alpha Beta Gamer during last August Monstrum 2 is an asymmetric multiplayer sequel to the popular original single-player Monstrum survival horror game. Players can take on the role of a prisoner or a monster as the prisoners attempt to escape an offshore facility while the monster hunts them down.
There are three playable monsters in the Monstrum 2 open Beta – the Brute, the Bhagra and the Malacosm. Each one has very different playstyles and has their own unique attributes and special abilities – such as the Brute’s powerful charge move or the Bhagra’s ability to pounce over large distances.
While the monsters hunt their prey, the Prisoners have to complete a series of objectives to escape from the facility. Different combinations of objectives are selected each time and the layout of the procedurally generated facility is different each time, but generally the prisoners need to activate 8 switches hidden throughout the facility, then power up the power plant and then prepare their escape craft (helicopter or submersible).
It can still take a couple of goes to get the hang of things, but it’s shaping up to be a great bit of asymmetric multiplayer fun. It’s far more polished than the previous build and it makes for a very tense experience when playing as a prisoner (and you feel like a real badass when playing as a monster!)
