My Friendly Neighborhood is a wacky first person survival horror game set within a film studio for a Saturday morning show where the puppets will kill you with kindness!
In My Friendly Neighborhood you take on the role of a handyman who has been sent to investigate an abandoned filming studio that mysteriously started broadcasting old episodes of a puppet show called My Friendly Neighborhood. When you get there you find that it’s going to be a little tricker then just turning off the broadcasting antenna – the puppets are alive and they’re a little too friendly!
Most of the time as you explore the studio the puppets will be rambling deranged (and funny) musings to themselves as if they were talking to children via their TV show. Get within eyesight of them though and they’ll want to come and play with you, which doesn’t end well for you! Thankfully you’re able to keep them at bay with your guns and if you want to permanently put them out of action you can tape them up. Ammo is limited though (particularly at higher difficulty levels) so sometimes it’s best just to run.
It takes around 30 minutes to play through the demo build of My Friendly Neighborhood and it’s a lot of fun. It’s got a delightfully dark sense of humor and the puppets do a good job of being creepy while not relying on gore. The puzzles are well designed and there’s a nice selection of secrets and easter eggs to discover along the way too. Highly recommended.
