Notebook Detective is a first person detective game where you use clues and the statements of three different witnesses to help solve a murder in a prohibition era speakeasy.
Created by students of the Breda University of Applied Sciences, Notebook Detective is a unique little first person detective game where you attempt to solve the murder of a man at a 1920’s speakeasy. You can search the crime scene for clues much like in any detective game, but it’s the things your witnesses say about them that’l really help you crack the case.
Perhaps unsurprisingly as it’s called “Notebook Detective”, your notebook forms an integral part in your investigation. Every clue you find has a written description and each individual word of the descriptions can be dragged and dropped onto a notebook. The words you place on your notebook can be used to answer five vital questions and solve the murder at the end of the game, but they can also be used to unlock witnesses (or narrators), who will tell you more about the various clues you find. There are three witnesses in total to unlock and all three will be useful in cracking the case.
It’s a little on the easy side, but the notebook mechanics and the multiple witnesses/narrators makes for a fun and unique murder mystery adventure. Will you solve the case of the speakeasy?
