Nurbits is a fun looking music making puzzle game in which you play a sound engineer who hooks up microchips within the brains of a robotic band to solve puzzles or to create your own own original musical masterpieces.
In Nurbits you connect microchips to circuitboards to send and receive signals like a human brain does. Once a microchips achieve enough stimulation from the other chips it’ll play a note. You need to arrange these chips in such a way as to get your band to play the music correctly.
Nurbits comes with a campaign mode and a creative mode. In campaign mode you’re tasked with rearranging the microchips to complete over 50 puzzles that end up composing four different original songs in diverse genres (Chip Tune, Rock, Hip-Hop and Electronic Dance Music). As you progress your little robot band will rise to the top of the music industry, going from playing in a basement to playing in a space station!.
In creative mode you get to create your own music – building your own custom robots, using 21 different musical instruments and adding effects like reverb and echo. The songs can then be uploaded for others to play or remix, and you can even turn your songs into puzzles using the same tools as the game designers.
It’s a fun looking take on the music genre, offering plenty of logic-based puzzles and a full suite of music creation options. With a bit of practice, maybe you’ll even be able to make a robot’s favourite type of music – Heavy Metal!
