NVIDIA GeForce NOW is NVIDIA’s cloud based gaming platform similar to OnLive and PlayStation Now, that uses the power of the cloud to turn any ordinary Mac or PC into a high powered gaming rig.
Since OnLive shutdown in 2015 there’s not really been a serious replacement for its cloud based gaming experience, and certainly none that offer the same amount of AAA games in its library. GeForce NOW looks set to be filling the void, with players able to sign up for the Beta now and choose from a wide range of quality titles to play. You can find a full list of the current available games here, but highlights include Resident Evil 7, TEKKEN 7, Shadow of Mordor, Nier: Automata, Wolfenstein II and PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS. It’s also the only way Mac owners can play some of the games as they haven’t been ported to Mac.
It goes without saying that you need a decent speed of internet connection (25 Mbps minimum, 50 Mbps recommended), but NVIDIA have proven with their Shield devices that they know a thing or two about streaming games – so as long as your connection is up to scratch those games should look great and play well. The Beta will take place in Europe and North America, so if you live in one of these areas and want to experience an evolution in cloud based gaming or just want to play PUBG on a Mac, sign up for the Beta now!
