OMNO is a beautiful non-combative Journey-esque third person adventure where you explore, solve puzzles and discover the secrets of an ancient alien world.
In OMNO you control a mysterious being who is able to harness the energy they find in nature and use it to power ancient mechanisms. The world that you explore is fondly reminiscent of Journey, but with more of a focus on puzzle platforming gameplay. As you progress through the world you’ll learn new skills, allowing you to use your magic staff to dash across platforms, surf along sand dunes and sail above the clouds (among other things).
Even in the current demo build there’s a lot to discover in OMNO’s vibrant alien world. It’s filled with a wide variety of alien creatures and plantlife, which (refreshingly) you don’t fight with – you exist alongside them and interacting with them generally causes them to drop a little energy for you to collect. It feels very epic but is also a very tranquil experience, where the worst thing that will happen to you is that you’ll look a little silly when you fall flat on your face after too large a drop.
The current demo build takes around 15 minutes to play through (though you can surf and enjoy the scenery as much as you like at the end). It’s a beautiful game, with a wonderfully chilled out atmosphere and a real sense of discovery as you explore and figure out how to interact with the game world and the ancient mechanisms within it. Highly recommended.
