One Small Step is a fantastic looking low poly space exploration game that aims to do away with realism and simulation in favour of a much more important feature – FUN!
There’s been a welcome resurgence of space exploration sims recently with the likes of Star Citizen and Elite: Dangerous seeing plenty of success, but there’s not much out there for those who can’t be bothered with the fiddly simulation aspects and just want to fly around the universe blasting things and having fun. The developer of One Mall Step looks set to address this situation after bouncing off Star Citizen – stating that “I bought an $80 ship in Star Citizen. Looked amazing! I flew around for 5 minutes. Then I watched re-runs of FireFly.”
One Small Step has a similar ethos as No Man’s Sky, with you able to fly to any planet you can see and land on it within seconds. You’ll be able to mine minerals, trade resources (such as ammo, metal cash, bananas and bacon!), make friends and blast anything that moves. It’s an awesome looking game, featuring spectacular space battles with huge swarms of ships swooping around, easily accessible gameplay and even massive Gundam-style mechs. If you’re looking for some low poly, low hassle, high fun, space exploration, then fear not, your dreams are just One Small Step away!
