Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy is a first person dungeon crawling RPG with beautiful Anime artwork, a dark narrative and plenty of weirdness from NIS America (Disgaea, Danganronpa, etc.)
Previously only available on PS Vita, in Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy you control a group of talented adolescents who have been recruited to hunt down powerful monsters known as Variants, that are terrorising the city of Tokyo. It’s a fairly silly story that fits well with the game and has some very dark twists throughout.
The gameplay in Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy is similar to Etrian Odyssey, with you exploring labyrinths in first person with your party of six and taking part in turn based battles when you encounter enemies. There are a variety of ways to attack, and the Variant’s you fight are aligned to different elements which you can take advantage of by exploiting their weaknesses.
Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy doesn’t really bring anything new to the dungeon crawling RPG genre, but it’s a fun game that provides easily accessible gameplay, an interesting narrative and highly polished audio/visual design. Sign up now to see how it fares on a big screen.
