Operencia: The Stolen Sun is a beautiful new Eye of the Beholder-esque turn based first person dungeon crawling RPG set in an unconventional fantasy world inspired by Central European folklore.
In Operencia: The Stolen Sun you must search across the land for the missing Sun King Napkilalry, whose abduction has plunged your entire land into perpetual darkness. As you venture across the land you’ll battle powerful monsters, learn new spells and skills, discover secrets, collect loot and solve puzzles.
The first person dungeon crawling gameplay of Operencia: The Stolen Sun is grid based and turn based, much like Eye of the Beholder or The Legend of Grimrock. Interestingly for this genre, a lot of the dungeon crawling won’t happen in dungeons though – you’ll be able to venture outdoors, adding a nice amount of variety and relieving some of that claustrophobia you get from continually being surrounded by stone walls. The locations sound pretty interesting too – with a mixture of mythological locations and fantastical versions of actual historical places.
It’s a great looking game, with high quality visuals and an interesting game world. A dungeon crawler that frees the dungeon crawling from the dungeons, allowing you to explore and battle monsters in a vibrant and varied fantasy world.
