OPUS: Echo of Starsong is a beautiful narrative-driven Sci-Fi puzzle adventure that tells the heartfelt story of an exile and a witch who set out in search of mysterious asteroids that emit “Starsongs” and contain immense power.
In OPUS: Echo of Starsong you follow the story of Lee (a young exiled clan leader) and Eda (a “witch” who has the ability to hear Starsongs from asteroids). After a rather tumultuous meeting the pair team up and go in search of Starsong-emitting asteroids that contain ancient secrets, magnificent temples and immeasurable power.
The demo build of OPUS: Echo of Starsong features a sizable chunk of gameplay and sees Lee attempting to infiltrate a pirate base and save Eda. The core gameplay is puzzle based, with you often figuring out how to operate strange machines to aid your progress. It’s quite a slow paced and very narrative-driven experience with some beautiful cutscenes and lots of dialogue.
The fact that it’s narrative-heavy does mean you’ll generally spend more time reading dialogue than playing the game, but it is an interesting story and the universe has a rich lore. The artwork and animation is also superb, making it feel like you’re playing through an interactive Anime at times. Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a Sci-Fi adventure with a rich and rewarding story.
