Pankapu: The Dreamkeeper is a gorgeous looking new Rayman-esque action platformer in which you control a character who can switch between skill sets in an instant, as he sets out on a beautifully animated adventure that takes place across dreams and reality.
What first hits you about Pankapu: The Dreamkeeper is that the animation and artwork is fantastic – with a lush, vibrant game world fondly reminiscent of Rayman Legends and a wide selection of unique characters and enemies. The gameplay is fun too, with you able to switch between costumes and fighting styles with a button press, changing from a nimble archer to a powerful melee-focused warrior in an instant.
The beautiful game world is inspired by Lakota culture and games such as Final Fantasy. The whole game is a projection of a childs mind as he is being told a bedtime story by his father. This creates some interesting layers of narration, as you follow the adventures of Pankapu, and can also read between the lines to discover the tragic story of the child and why he is having nightmares.
With it’s lush visuals, traditional action platforming gameplay and innovative storytelling techniques, Pankapu: The Dreamkeeper really impresses. A fun action platformer that looks and plays like a dream.
