Pendula Swing is an episodic adventure game with RPG elements set in a Tolkien inspired high fantasy world that’s moved on from medieval times to a Great Gatsby-esque roaring 20’s era with strange music, steel horses, new fashion and goblins campaigning for equal rights on the streets.
You are a retired adventurer – one with plenty of loot, a happy little house, and no need to continue to risk your life on adventurers. You were going through your daily morning routine when suddenly you notice some footprints. It seems like a goblin has stolen one thing from your home: your axe. This isn’t something you can stand for – a mystery unsolved – so you are going to go to the nearby town and figure out how to get your axe back!
In Pendula Swing you end up back in a town you haven’t visited for hundreds of years. Things have changed without you there – the divide between goblins and dwarves seem to be changing. To your surprise, people seem to allow goblins to protest and be inside the city – some are even looking for equal rights. You can see these various goblins, understand their points of view, as well as talk to dwarfs like yourself and even elves.
Your main goal is to still find your own axe – but there is much more going on in this game. You can help out all sorts of creatures, try to find your axe, and figure out how you can help the most amount of people possible.
The current Pendula Swing test build is for Episode 1 (Tired and Retired) and is still in early development so it does have a few bugs and assets that are works in progress. With that said, the narrative is very intriguing and the interesting 20’s styled fantasy town promises to be much more than meets the eye. You might not be retired for much longer with all that is going on within the town!
