Perturbia is a well detailed, puzzle-filled horror game, inspired by Alone in the Dark, Silent Hill, The 7th Guest, and Gabriel Knight, that has you following in the footsteps of a man, learning the terrible fate of a couple and their child.
Even in these early stages of development, the game is very creepy. The music and sounds give it a nice ambiance, the environment is well done, detailed, dark, and terrifying. The decaying walls, crying babies, and images of (what may be) the past. The dread filled apartment building has you on edge every second, looking around, wondering what might pop out at you.
Gameplay is very smooth, the overall feel of it flows very nicely. You’re a in a standard first person setting, walking around aimlessly in the dark. Armed with nothing but a flashlight, you make your way through this complex, solving intricate puzzles with on screen hints (Only use them if you have to! Your score goes lower as a result!)
Being in beta, it has it’s rough edges (as I was backing up in a corner, to my surprise I fell through the world) but the overall gameplay will have you on the edge of your seat and dying for more. It even supports oculus rift (if you’re brave enough!)
