Population: One is a VR battle royale game with Fortnite-esque building mechanics, an innovative motion sickness-free movement system and the ability to use your hands to clamber up any structure in its expansive one square kilometer battleground.
Coming to HTC Vive, Rift and Windows Mixed Reality, Population: One is a VR battle royale game that gives players freedom to explore and interact with the game world on their terms. It features an intuitive Fortnite-esque construction system and you can use jetpacks to fly large distances through the air, but it’s the climbing mechanics that are Population: One real party piece.
Everything you see in the game world can be climbed here doesn’t need to be specific ledges to grab or footholds – you simply reach out and climb up as if there’s an invisible ladder there. This means you can go anywhere you like as you attempt to get the drop on your opponents and you can even pull off some badass manoeuvres – like hanging from a tree with one hand while shooting an assault rifle with another!
It’s a great looking game which doesn’t just recreate a standard battle royale game in VR – it uses VR in interesting ways to make the experience better. Sign up for the Beta to join the population of Population: One.
