PRIM is a beautifully animated old school point and click adventure about a young girl whose father is Death himself.
Currently in development by Common Colors, PRIM combines the classic point and click adventure gameplay of Monkey Island with a Tim Burton inspired aesthetic and a Terry Pratchett-esque lighthearted fantasy setting. It follows the story of Prim, a young girl whose father just happens to be Thanatos – the Greek God of Death.
Prim has been having visions of a human boy who is crying out for help, and is keen to investigate, but her father has forbidden it. He claims she’s not ready for the immense power she’d develop in the Realm of the Living and has locked her up in her room.
The full game is planned to offer around 6-8 hours of gameplay, while the demo build takes around 20 minutes to play through and sees Prim trying to escape from her room. The door’s locked tight, but with a little ingenuity and a little help from a friendly eyeball spider she’ll be able to escape and set out on her adventure.
It’s a very promising game with beautiful hand drawn visuals, excellent voice acting, classic point and click adventure gameplay, and a great sense of humor. It’s a lot of fun and it’s got a meaningful story at its heart about a father learning to let go of his daughter. The character are likeable, the eyeball spider is surprisingly cute and it’s a very polished experience even in its current form. All in all, it’s shaping up to be the best point and click adventure we’ve seen in years.
