Primal Pursuit features fast and frantic races as up to 12 animals race for their lives through deadly courses full of unpredictable threats – such as gigantic rolling boulders that squash anyone careless enough to get in their way!
We first featured Primal Pursuit on Alpha Beta Gamer last year when it was still a single track prototype and found it to be a wonderfully chaotic racer where one careless move could mean instant death. Since then the visuals have been vastly upgraded, along with more tracks and more high speed animals to race.
Primal Pursuit is playable on single player tournaments, online battles or friendly(ish) custom matches that allow you to create your own rules. There are eight different animal clans to choose between – polar bears, frogs, tortoises, emus, frill-necked lizards, walruses, takins (goats) and mandrils, each of which have their own attributes and special skills which can be used to avoid obstacles, boost or sabotage opponents. A lot of the time your rivals won’t be the biggest danger on the tracks though – there are also hazards such as massive rolling boulders that can instantly turn your animal racer into a animal pancake, leaving you dead for the rest of the race (though you can choose how many lives you want players to have).
It’s a great looking game that takes the chaotic multiplayer battle racing of Mario Kart and infuses a real sense of peril into the proceedings. A frantic multiplayer racer where you’re lucky to survive, let alone win!
