Beta sign ups are now live for Project 1v1, a mysterious new first person shooter from Gearbox Software (Borderlands, Battleborn) that combines 1v1 deathmatches with the strategic deck-building of a collectible card game.
Project 1v1’s interesting blend of strategic collectible card gaming and skill based first person shooting will feature Ranked matches that will allow you to earn experience and new cards, Challenge matches that’ll all you to play against friends and Arena matches that will see you attempting to defeat the current arena champion and take their place. Gearbox are being quite secretive about The rest of Project 1v1’s features but the mix of CCG and FPS gameplay is a novel concept that sounds a little like Warframe creator Digital Extremes’ upcoming game, Keystone, but as there’s so little information about either of the projects at the moment it’s hard to tell.
Testing starts this summer, with players able to sign up now. Players will need to create or sign into their Gearbox SHiFT account and sign an NDA, so no streaming unfortunately, but it’s certainly worth checking out to get in on the fledgling new CCG FPS genre – maybe it’ll even rival the hero shooter genre.
