Project Nova is a new class based first person shooter set within the dystopian EVE Online Universe, which promises co-op and competitive multiplayer, a deep progression system and a meaningful narrative as you fight against the totalitarian Sansha’s Nation state.
In Project Nova you will take control of an elite clone soldier called a Warclone, with a huge selection of customization options, abilities, weapons and skills. The class system is linked to the type of Dropsuit (armor) that you choose, with there being Heavy, Medium and Light Dropsuits, each of which has two distinct upgradeable variants.
The main co-op PvE campaign mode will see you teaming up with other players to bring down the totalitarian Sansha’s Nation state across a multiple-act narrative. You’ll fight against adaptive enemy AI across modifiable battlefields that will have unpredictable procedurally generated objectives. The PvP mode will allow players to take on mercenary work, earning cash and reputation for each battle.
Of course there has been an EVE Online FPS before in the form of the now defunct Dust 514, but it’s likely that CCP Games have learned from their mistakes – and it’s also worth noting that hardware and online infrastructure of massively multiplayer FPS games has evolved significantly since then (just look at Destiny).
