Project:tile is a tactical turn based strategy game that plays a little like Chess, but with teams of heavily armed robots blowing each other up on a stylish isometric battlefield.
In Project:tile you control a team of little robots that each have specific movement and attack abilities. There are 10 different types of units available in total, which you can use to create custom teams of 8 robots for each of the different battlefields that you fight on. There’s a nice variety of units that fit into different roles (tanks, healers, etc) and each one can be devastating in the correct situations.
Upon starting the match each team only has the ability to use one move or attack action per turn, but the amount of actions you can do per turn will increase to 3 after a few turns. There are two different game modes, Capture and Deathmatch – you can win both by destroying the other team, but you can also win in Capture mode by earning the most points from special capture points at the side of the battlefield (once all the points are depleted the winner is the one with the most).
There’s no Tutorial implemented yet, so it does take a few matches to wrap your head around the gameplay and the abilities of your units, but once you get to grips with it Project:tile offers a very enjoyable slice of tactical turn based dueling warfare. It’s still early in development but it already impresses with its fast paced and fun take on tactical turn based combat and stylish isometric visuals. The gameplay is intuitive and it’s Chess-like grid-based duels offer up a plethora of strategic options as you anticipate and react to your opponent’s moves.
