Pulang: Insanity is a creepy psychological horror adventure that draws from Indonesian mythology and revolves around a man who carried out an occult ritual which grants vast amounts of money in return for human sacrifices.
The first person horror gameplay of Pulang: Insanity follows the story of Rudy, a man who was poor and in debt when he carried out an occult ritual known as Pesugihan. This ritual granted him an extraordinary amount of wealth, but requires a human sacrifice every 40 days. But it’s likely it’ll end up costing him even more than that…
The current build of Pulang: Insanity takes around 20 minutes to play through and sees you exploring your large luxury mansion in search of your daughter. There are keys and other useful objects to search for and your flashlight will start flickering when you’re near one. The game starts off fairly sedately, but things get pretty sinister and surreal towards the end.
There are some issues with the current build, particularly the inventory system which is very clunky and requires you to manually select when you want to use a key to open a door. Other than that though it’s a very promising game with high quality visuals, excellent audio design and great use of the Indonesian setting/folklore. By the end you’ll be certain that it’s not a great idea to sacrifice humans for your own personal wealth!
