Radical Heights is a new last man standing survival shooter from Cliff Bleszinski (Gears of War, LawBreakers) which brings an OTT 80’s twist to the Battle Royale genre.
After the fun but unsuccessful LawBreakers failed to land (partly due to the rise of PUBG and Fortnite), Cliff Bleszinski’s Boss Key Productions is now trying their hand at the Battle Royale genre. Currently in “X-TREME Early Access”, Radical Heights offers an over the top 80’s styled Battle Royale experience with lots of big guns, garish colors, BMX bikes, game show moments and an in-game wallet that you can use in vending machines and gambling machines during the match.
Matches in Radical Heights see you gliding down into the game map, scavenging cash, equipment and weapons, and fighting to be the last one standing. Rather than having an ever-decreasing circle of safe area, Radical Heights constricts the game space by locking off GRID Squares allowing for a more unique constriction pattern with each match. There’s also lots of cash and prizes to be found littered around the game world, which you can spend in-match to acquire powerful weapons and armor or you can use it after the match to purchase lots of rad cosmetics.
Radical Heights is still very early in development, so obviously it’s not as polished as PUBG and Fortnite Battle Royale yet, but it has some fun new ideas and it sure has style. Whether it can leave a mark in an already flooded market remains to be seen, but it’s well worth checking out for some radical Battle Royale action!
