Raven’s Point is a very well crafted boss rush horror game where you must defeat four parasitic entities that have trapped you in a strange house.
We previously covered the Basement demo build of Raven’s Point on Alpha Beta Gamer back in July and found it to be a very tense jump scare-filled experience, but this latest build (The Silence) is much more fleshed out, with two bosses to dispatch and much more narrative (and there’s even a fun little in-joke for those who played the previous build). In the game you take on the role of Sara, a woman who finds herself trapped in a mysterious house with four parasitic entities. Each entity takes a different form and has different rules to follow if you want to beat them.
Raven’s Point plays a little like a blend of Five Nights at Freddy’s and a traditional first person exploration horror game. When facing the bosses you are confined to a single room and have to follow FNaF style rules to defeat them (close a door, close your eyes, etc.). Between boss battles you can explore the house, search for clues and chat to a mysterious voice that is trying to help you.
The current build of Raven’s Point takes around 30 minutes to play through and really impresses with its high quality visuals, tense atmosphere and interesting narrative. It feels like a real evolution of the FNaF style of horror genre, backing up its jump-scare filled boss fights with more traditional first person exploration horror game elements and a very intriguing lore. Highly recommended.
