Realm Royale is bringing it’s brand of lighthearted fantasy Battle Royale to PS4 and Xbox One, with players able to sign up for the Beta now.
As we mentioned during the launch of the PC open Alpha https://www.alphabetagamer.com/realm-royale-open-alpha/ , Realm Royale is a 100 player Battle Royale game from Hi-Rez Studios (creators of SMITE) that brings MOBA-esque heros, spells, crafting, mounts and chickens to the genre. It’s a battle royale based spinoff of Hi Rez Studio’s hero shooter Paladins, and much like Fortnite, it’s becoming much more popular than the main game it’s based on.
It is clearly jumping on the Battle Royale bandwaggon, but Realm Royale isn’t just another PUBG/Fortnite clone – it’s got some fun gameplay elements that differentiate it from the competition. You can choose between five character classes before starting your match – Assassin, Warrior, Hunter, Engineer and Mage – each with their own unique skills and attributes. There are mounts to ride and a nice selection of weapons, equipment and spells to scavenge. You can also forge powerful legendary weapons at forges located around the map. Forging weapons can leave you vulnerable to attack but those legendary weapons can do some serious damage when equipped!
Bringing Realm Royale to consoles is a shrewd move by Hi-Rez Studios as there is still space for another Battle Royale game in the console market. Xbox One owners have Fortnite and PUBG, and PS4 owners have Fortnite and H1Z1, but Realm Royale’s offers a fun fantasy hero shooter twist on the genre that’s provides a viable third way. The Beta starts next week so sign up now to be one of the first to fight for your life in the rich fantasy world of Realm Royale.
