Remothered: Tormented Fathers is a very freaky looking third person psychological survival horror in which you face dangerous psychopaths and fanatics while attempting unravel a web of lies and find out what happened to a missing girl.
Remothered: Tormented Fathers is the first part of a planned trilogy of games and sees you playing a woman called Rosemary Reed who’s investigating the disappearance of a girl called named Celeste. Your investigations bring you to the home of the girls father (a doctor who’s affected by a mysterious disease) and her mother – both of whom seem to know more than they let on. What follows is a tense third person survival horror adventure, full of dark twists as you unravel the secrets of a secret cult of cloistered nuns in red.
The gameplay in Remothered: Tormented Fathers is focused on realism and stealth. You’ll have to sneak and use distractions to avoid the stalkers that roam the mansion. There are no guns or powerful weapons, but you can use weaker weapons and projectiles to fend the stalkers off occasionally (though they’ll never give up and never die). Another nod to realism in the game is that there are no silly Resident Evil-style puzzles – any puzzles will use everyday items in everyday ways, so expect keys and codes rather than inserting gems into statues!
As you progress you’ll also learn new skills and upgrade your attributes that should help you survive a little longer. It promises to be a very cinematic experience too, with high quality visuals, well directed cutscenes and an audio score from Nobuko Toda (Final Fantasy, Halo, Metal Gear Solid) that will really bring the adventure to life.
It’s a great looking game that looks set to offer a tense and terrifying survival horror adventure that’s grounded in reality – a game where the real monsters are everyday people who are capable of doing some very bad things indeed.
