Scarred is a creepy hand drawn psychological horror adventure which follows a cop as he investigates a domestic disturbance in a very strange household.
In Scarred you take on the role of officer Clay Begrav, who is called out to investigate a disturbance at a local residence. The home belongs to a gifted artist with a taste for the macabre called Baron Samedi and his wife Morrigan, who used to be a TV chef and morning show host. They live there with their daughter, Lorelai, but it seems to be far from a loving household and as Clay investigates he discovers how grim life is for her.
The full game of Scarred will follow all four of the main characters and focus on Lorelai as she finds herself trapped in a hellish netherworld. However, the current demo build takes place at the start of the game and focuses on officer Clay as he investigates the household. It takes around 15 minutes to play through and features a nice mixture of horror, puzzles and narrative, with you learning a lot about the family as you investigate the house.
The ending of the demo build does feel a little anticlimactic, but the game does show a lot of promise. It’s a very unique take on the horror genre, with high quality artwork a very intriguing narrative. A delightfully dark hand drawn horror adventure well worth delving into.
