Shadow Seeker is a Resident Evil inspired RPG Maker based survival horror game where two detectives discover an ancient darkness while investigating a murder in a mysterious mansion.
In Shadow Seeker you take on the role of Carlos Ramirez, a seasoned detective who has been sent out to investigate murder case with his partner. The crime scene is a large and creepy mansion, and after a little investigation it soon becomes apparent that the residents are missing and it’s overrun with zombies, giant spiders and.. much worse things. You’ll now need to explore, search for clues and useful items, fight and solve puzzles as you try to get to the bottom of what’s going on.
Shadow Seeker plays a lot like a 2D version of a classic Resident Evil game. You have very limited inventory space, the puzzle design is pretty similar and it even features real-time combat with tank controls. The current build takes around an hour to play through and really impresses with it’s tense atmosphere and classic survival horror gameplay.
There are a few design choices that are a little infuriating, such as that button mapping being a bit weird and the fact that you have to toggle sprinting on and off instead of it just being a key-press. Other than that though it’s a very impressive game that throws up some great scares, creative puzzles and real-time survival horror action gameplay elements rarely seen in RPG Maker games. Highly recommended.
