Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is a very cool looking Commandos-esque real time strategy game set in feudal Japan, in which you control a team of five specialists who embark on missions of assassination, sabotage and espionage.
As in Commandos, you don’t control the movements of a whole army in this RTS, just a team of five, highly trained specialists – a stealthy ninja, a powerful samurai, a sniper, a trap/decoy specialist and a master of camouflage. Full frontal assaults will most likely be suicide, so players will be able to plan assaults, utilizing the abilities of each of the specialists and using the environment to lay ambushes, sneak into enemy camps and complete their objectives.
Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is due for release in Q4 2016 on PC, Mac, Linux, PS4 and Xbox One, although the Beta testing will be on PC only by the looks of it. Even with half a years development to go, it already looks fantastic, with lush visuals and a compelling tactics-focused take on real time strategy. If you liked the Commandos games, you’re ‘sho-gunna like this!
