Shady Knight is a very fast paced first person slasher-platformer where you race through levels and chain together stylish kills to earn points.
Previously featured on Alpha Beta Gamer last year, Shady Knight blends first person combat with parkour platforming and a little physics-based carnage as you run and fight your way through enemy-filled levels. Each level can usually be completed in under two minutes once you know what you’re doing and you have a nice assortment of moves and attacks to help you do so.
Actually completing the levels isn’t too hard, but completing them well is another matter. It has a Devil May Cry-esque scoring system, where you’re not only rated on speed, but style as well – you need to mix up your attacks as repetition won’t get you the big points. You start each level unarmed, but when you kill any of the knights they will drop their weapon (currently either a sword or a bow), which you can use to cause more carnage.
The environment is perhaps your biggest weapon though – it’s littered with objects to throw or kick at enemies and hazards to knock your enemies into. Learning to make use of the environment is how you get good at Shady Knight.
It’s a hell of a lot of fun and the addition of the bow in this latest build is a particular highlight. It only has a handful of levels but they’re extremely replayable as you attempt to slay with style and chase those coveted SS ranks! Highly recommended.
