Shotgun King is a clever little turn-based roguelite twist on the classic game of Chess, where you only get to control a king, but he’s armed with a shotgun!
Created for Ludum Dare 50, in Shotgun King the Black King has lost his entire army due him not being a particularly good king. However, he does still have his trusty shotgun, which should allow him to stand up to the White King’s army until his inevitable demise.
The rules of Shotgun King are quite different from a classic game of Chess. The pieces can all still move in the appropriate directions and you lose if your king gets taken, but the shotgun allows you to aim and shoot at enemies from a distance and the White King’s army can move multiple pieces each turn. Also taking pieces can give your cards that allow you to move like them and between rounds you can select perks which can aid you a little.
