Sky Racket features a fun mash-up of Tennis, Breakout and side-scrolling shoot ‘em up gameplay as you fly through the air whacking bullets with your tennis racket.
Sky Racket is a fully fleshed out version of a game jam prototype called Racketboy which we featured on Alpha Beta Gamer way back in 2015. In the game you cotrol RacketBoy or RacketGirl as they fly through the sky using their tennis racket’s to bounce bullets back at baddies to destroy them.
The current Beta build features three full levels, two playable characters and local co-op. There’s a nice selection of enemies to destroy, often coming in the form of large Breakout-esque blocks that you have to bounce the bullets at to destroy them. The levels aren’t too tough, but they all have bonus objectives for you to complete which add a lot more challenge and there’s a big boss fight to round things off.
Sky Racket’s mash-up of tennis, shoot ‘em up and Breakout style gameplay works surprisingly well and makes for a unique, fun and tactical side-scrolling arcade experience. The pixel art animation is fantastic and each level has a nice amount of replayability as you chase high scores and bonus objectives. A fab little tennis ‘em up full of bullet whacking fun.
