SkyWeaver is a turn-based CCG that actually gives players ownership of their cards, allowing them to own and trade your cards with other players as they see fit, as in traditional physical card battling games.
If there’s one criticism that can be levelled at most digital CCG’s, it’s that you don’t really feel like you have the same sense of ownership of the cards that you get with physical versions. SkyWeaver looks set to use blockchain technology to address this, giving the player full ownership of their cards, allowing them to play, trade or sell them however they like.
The gameplay in SkyWeaver seems fairly similar to Hearthstone, with each player having a main hero to defeat and each unit having separate arrack and health points. There are five different types of deck (Strength, Wisdom, Heart, Agility and Intellect), each of which allow players to focus on different tactics and it even allows for dual deck combinations to give more tactical options. Cards are unlocked through play and secured in the Ethereum blockchain, so once a player owns a card, only they can access it, not even the developers can.
Blockchain technology has yet to really leave its mark on gaming, but its use in SkyWeaver is a very enticing prospect. The ability to actually own the cards you earn is a great concept that should make for an experience much more like a traditional physical CCG.
