Created for the Haunted PS1 Summer Spooks Jam, Sleep Cycles is an eerie third person platforming adventure that sees you trying to escape from a strange afterlife filled with large industrial machines. There’s little in the way of narrative, but there are shadows of people hidden through the game world that talk to you, giving you the impression that you’re in some sort of limbo or afterlife (or perhaps even a dream).
It’s a very stylish experience that really nails the PS1 era visuals and manages to build a great sense of atmosphere as you make your way through its mysterious industrial world. There are platforming sections that can frustrate, but it all feels authentic to the era of gaming the game is based on. A surreal retro industrial platforming oddity well worth checking out.
