SOLUM is a tense zero gravity Sci-Fi horror game where an astronaut tries to survive in the remains of a spaceship that’s been infested with a shadowy alien entity.
In SOLUM you take on the role of an astronaut who awakens to find that their ship is powered down and critically damaged. Dead bodies float through the corridors, your ship’s AI is struggling to cope and a shadowy alien entity stalks you through the ship. The more you discover about your situation, the more dire your situation appears to be…
You can use your spacesuit’s thrusters to maneuver your astronaut around the ship and you can also aim a flashlight to light up your way. Your suit only has a limited amount of power, but you can recharge it at charge stations and by draining the power-packs of dead astronauts. You can take your time exploring most of the ship, but when the shadowy entity appears you’d better get out of there fast!
There are a few issues with SOLUM, the main one being that it gives you very little guidance so a lot of the time you have no idea what you’re supposed to be doing. It’s a great game once you manage to figure it out though, with a 2001: A Space Odyssey vibe, a tense atmosphere and fun zero gravity physics as you propel yourself through the ship. In space noone can hear you scream, but you’re going to do it anyway!
