Static End is a creepy and atmospheric PS1 styled first person horror game where you waste time in your apartment as it decays around you and a massive Lovecraftian monstrosity enslaves the world.
You spend the entirety of Static End inside your apartment, afraid to go out because of the cosmic horrors that are happening out there. That’s not to say that some of those horrors won’t make their way into your apartment, and from your balcony you get a perfect view of a gigantic Lovecraftian cosmic god-like creature that grows every day. The world is doomed, all you can do is hang on and waste time in your apartment until the end.
The controls in Static End take a little getting used to as the dev was trying to emulate the limited (non-dual analog) controls of a PS1. Once you get to grips with it it’s a very tense and atmospheric horror experience though. The way the audio slowly builds as the days go by and the world (and your apartment) slowly deteriorates around you is very unsettling. There’s no being a hero and saving the day in this game, you just have to wait for your inevitable doom. Highly recommended.
