Supplice is a bombastic GZDoom powered Sci-Fi first person shooter where your terraforming colony is subject to a brutal invasion by trans-dimensional horrors.
Created by a talented team of DOOM mod scene veterans, Supplice plays a lot like DOOM, but with everything turned up to eleven. It takes place on a distant planet that mankind is terraforming and sees some fancy human technology malfunctioning and flooding the world with bloodthirsty trans-dimensional monsters. You’re massively outnumbered, but not outgunned as you have an incredible arsenal of beefy weapons to fend them off with.
The Supplice demo build features two huge levels to blast your way through and a nice selection of big guns to test out. The body count really racks up as you make your way through the non-linear levels and there’s lots to discover if you can survive long enough. The level design is both very impressive and a little confusing – there are lots of hidden passages to unlock and secrets to find, but sometimes it can be a little tricky to figure out where you’re supposed to go or what was activated by the last button you just pressed.
It’s a hell of a lot of fun, with fast paced DOOM styled gameplay, beautiful visuals and the level layout that’s a lot more cerebral than most run ‘n gun shooters. The guns are a particular highlight, both looking and feeling like you could take out a whole army with them (which is essentially what you’re gonna have to do!). Highly recommended.
