Tactical Crisis blends turn-based tactics with Time Crisis-esque shooting gallery gameplay to create a fast paced and fun little bite-sized shooting strategy adventure.
Created for the Secret Santa Jam, Tactical Crisis is essentially Time Crisis reimagined as a turn-based tactics game. The game features traditional grid-based turn-based movement, but when you attack then the game shifts to a first person view and you use your mouse to aim and shoot at enemies (much like a Time Crisis style target gallery shooter).
Tactical Crisis features nine levels and sees you storming an anime base to rescue captured operatives. You can then control the operatives you rescue in future levels (one even has a bazooka), as you make your way towards the final boss fight.
Taking around 10 minutes to play through, it’s a short game and it’s only really the final level that offers any challenge, but it’s a lot of fun and it’s a fantastic concept that would be great for expanding on. The shooting gallery gameplay really makes for a much faster and arcadey take on the turn-based tactics genre that works surprisingly well. A great genre mash-up well worth pulling the trigger on.
