Teenage Blob is a delightful art-punk musical adventure that combines elements of dating sims, RPGs, arcade classics and rhythm-action games in a tale of amorphous blobs, bands, butts and bootleg battletoads.
Teenage Blob is currently in development as a Split project by Team Lazerbeam (creators of Snow Cones, Wrestling with Emotions and Dress to Express Dancing Success) and alternative/indie Philly music band The Superwreaks. It’s being created as an EP, with six songs by The Superwreaks accompanying the six short games from Team Lazerbeam, with the whole thing taking around 30 minutes to play through, but as with a music EP, it’s designed to be enjoyed again and again.
In the game you’ll follow the adventure of an amorphous teenage blob who needs to make some cash doing odd jobs, to buy some new boots for the gig they’re going to that night. Along the way you’ll (among other things) deliver papers, rock out on a guitar and go skateboarding dressed in a frog suit in some delightful parodies of well known games.
In the Beta you’ll be able to play through all six tracks of the game, starting with you waking up and (literally) getting into shape and ending with a delightfully silly physics based mosh at the Superwreaks concert. The animation is superb throughout and the gameplay pairs very well with The Superwreaks’ music. Sign up for the Beta to check out this charming musical adventure that will brighten up your day.
