The Cork is a beautiful 2D pixel art action RPG adventure that blends metroidvania exploration with challenging Souls-like combat.
Drawing inspiration from the classic 2D Castlevania games and Dark Souls, The Cork is an action RPG adventure set in the dead city of Kinsbane. In the game you’ll navigate a large interconnected world, befriend revenants, upgrade abilities and battle challenging enemies and discover new weapons and equipment.
The current build of The Cork is still early in development and only scratches the surface of what’s planned in the full game, but it’s already very impressive. The zoomed out viewpoint allows for a surprisingly high quality of low Rez pixel art animation, the world is an interesting place to explore and the combat is a lot of fun. It is initially very tough, but the combat does get a lot easier once you figure out how to beat each enemy (the roll ability is invaluable). It’s shaping up to be an excellent game and definitely one to keep an eye on.
