The Klaxo Radio Hour is a fantastic fully voice acted choose your own adventure game that plays out as you listen to a 1940s murder mystery broadcast on a cursed antique radio.
The branching narrative adventure of The Klaxo Radio Hour is entirely played out via the broadcasts that come from a cursed 1940s radio, with you listening as the murder mystery drama plays out and making choices by turning the dial and switching channels. The radio broadcast in question is a very well acted mystery theater style radio drama that revolves around a mystery writer called Kat Keene as she investigates the disappearance of a gentleman called Teddy Foxbridge.
The murder-mystery narrative is very intriguing and your choices really do affect how the narrative plays out, but what’s most interesting is the radio itself. It turns out that there’s more to the radio than first meets the eye and that solving the mystery may really literally mean the difference between life and death. It also turns out that there rogue transmissions on some of the unused channels and a “helpful” Klaxo advertiser that may give you clues as to what’s really going on.
It takes around an hour to play through The Klaxo Radio Hour and it’s a riveting experience throughout. It’s a very well produced experience that feels very much like an authentic 40s radio drama (albeit with a supernatural cursed radio twist). The writing is witty, the acting is excellent, your choices matter and the implementation of the curse into the narrative is very clever. You really won’t regret tuning in to this creepy cursed broadcast. Highly recommended.
