The Lacerator is a darkly comedic retro fixed camera survival horror game that draws inspiration from trashy video nasty slasher movies.
In The Lacerator you step into the shoes of Max, a porn star who loves sex. You and your crew have been captured by a psycho called The Lacerator. You now need to explore his lair, solve puzzles, fight monsters and escape the hideout. Preferably in one piece.
The core gameplay in The Lacerator is similar to the PS1 era Resident Evil games, with you solving puzzles, managing your inventory and making the most of the scare ammo. There are some significant differences though, such as its delightfully dark sense of humor or the ability to play from a fixed camera or third person perspective. You can also get Lacerated by traps, which will physically lop off a limb and leave you to continue the game without them. One limb can be lost in the current build, but there is a way to avoid it.
It’s shaping up to be a fantastic retro survival horror game that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but still has plenty of horror and gore. There are a couple of particularly hilariously shocking moments in the current build that you’ll struggle to ever forget! Highly recommended.
