The Longest Walk is an incredibly powerful and insightful interactive experience that tells a father’s story of living with depression and suicidal thoughts.
Created by Alexander Tarvet, a lecturer and sPhD student at Abertay University, The Longest Walk is a walking simulator style game about one man’s struggles with depression. In the game you go for a stroll through a world made of a series of diorama style scenes while listening to a heartfelt monologue about a father and his struggles with depression.
Taking around ten minutes to play through, The Longest Walk makes for a beautiful and enlightening experience that feels very personal and very relatable. It’s harrowing, but also hopeful, and the artwork and voicework are phenomenal. It makes for a very compelling insight into depression and the fact that you may not ever be able to truly beat it, but there is light at the end of the tunnel and you may be able to live with it. Highly recommended.
