The Mutated Reality is a tense and atmospheric PS1 styled first person horror game where a maddening entity lurks deep underground, corrupting those nearby and causing them to dig until they die.
Created for the Haunted PS1 Summer of Screams game jam, in The Mutated Reality you find yourself entering a forsaken area of land where mankind has been digging for something best left buried. The area is full of warning signs, but (as you’re a protagonist in a horror game), you ignore them all and proceed to delve deeper into a labyrinthine tunnel system dug by men driven mad by a mysterious entity that lurks deep below.
The current build of The Mutated Reality takes around 40 minutes to play through and really impresses with its foreboding atmosphere and riveting story. It takes some unexpected twists along the way and the notes left by those in the grips of the unimaginable madness that lurks below are really unsettling. You’ll have to wait for the next installment for any closure, but this is one hell of a build up. Highly recommended.
