The Ship: Remastered is a complete remastering of the hugely successful cruise ship murder-em-up that injected intelligence, intrigue and ingenuity into first person multiplayer gaming.
The Ship is now 10 years old and is still remarkably popular, with a sizable loyal user-base and new users picking up the title all the time (over 170k new players this year). For an indie game that’s over a decade old, this is a remarkable achievement and is testament to the games lasting appeal and novel gameplay which offers a truly unique multiplayer experience.
Having been invited aboard the ship by a mysterious Mr X, players are forced to join in a hunt to save themselves and their family. In this hunt, each player is assigned a target and must use a mixture of stealth and cunning to dispatch their target (with different point awarded depending on what weapon you use). You’ll have to mingle and talk with the other guests to figure out which one is your target first though, all the while looking over your shoulder for the person that’s been assigned to kill you.
As The Ship is 10 years old now it does obviously have a few rough edges, but still offers a wonderfully cerebral multiplayer experience you won’t find anywhere else. This is why The Ship: Remastered is such an alluring proposition, promising the originals innovative gameplay, but with a slick new UI, Steam Workshop integration and lush HD visuals. So what are you waiting for? All aboard the murder boat!
